Five minutes to complete happiness

Polish fans of hockey needed only five minutes to complete happiness in finished at Sunday, 14th August at University School of Physical Education stadium in Poznan, EuroHockey Championship II Women. There was a smell of great sensation! The most effective team in the tournament was losing 1:2 with our national team in the last match of group C. Big nervousness crept into the ranks of much more experienced team. Ukrainians cannot scored from penalty corners.
Polish girls without Marlena Rybacha, who had to pause after third yellow card in the match with Switzerland, fought as inspired, though they losing to the break 0:1. Their fate is by no means pampered. On the Contrary! Due to injury needed to leave the pitch: Joanna Hawrot, captain Joanna Wieloch and after defence of penalty corner – Paulina Okaj. And then at 65 minute it’s became. One of two the most effective players of the tournament Maryna Winohradova lead to the 2:2 draw. Result did not changed to the end. Under normal conditions we would be very happy about such a result. This time draw or a win gave the Ukraine promotion to the one of three qualification tournaments to the Olympic Games which are taking place in 2012 (in February in New Delhi, in March in Belgian Beershot and in May in Japan Kakamigahara). Poland would have reached the premium if it had won with the east neighbour.

Hamlet's dilemma of Poland
Sunday, 14 August 2011 07:19
Hamlet's dilemma "to be or not to be - this is a question" can be related to Polish team situation like never after. "To be" means to stay in the continental Group B. But - still, regardless of the fact that it seems to be very difficult - "to be" in the game for Olympic promotion to the last match of the tournament in Poznan - this is a success of Krzysztof Rachwalski's team.
The situation is clear. Before the Sunday's game with the most efficient team at the EuroHockey Nations Championship II - Ukraine - Poland has three points more than Wales and a goal difference in group C +3, while Wales -4. Welsh team will be counting on their high victory over the only one team, who hasn't gained any point in Poznan so far - Switzerland. And they will additionally count on Poland's defeat with Ukraine.

Difficult task for Poland
Friday, 12 August 2011 16:25
In Poland we usually say that "walls help the hosts". This sentence is not always a true. The host country of this tournament - EuroHockey Nations Championship II havsn't felt that so far. There are many things, which can be included into this saying: " teams' squads - good or bad, happiness or its lack, scoring efficiency or inefficiency, good or bad weather, support of fans, their kindness or grouch and umpires' decisions.
We were counting on Polish team, which play in hockey better and better, to make some surprise. What did we mean? First of all a qualification to the best four teams of this event. It would mean that the gate "London 2012" is open. Unfortunately someone lost a key. And this gate is close now. Whether that situation will still last on Sunday, 14 August around 14.00? We dream of our team promotion and we irrationaly believ that it will happen.
There is still a chance
Thursday, 11 August 2011 09:33
Wednesday, third day of the EuroHockey Nations Championship II in Poznan was very emotional. After second series of games in group B three teams have still got a chance to qualify to the semifinal and in consequence to be promoted to one of the preliminary Olympic tournament next year, which can give them a promotion to the Olympic Games in London.
Belarus has already qualified. This team, regardless of the fact they were losing to the team which was relegated from the European's Group A - Scotland, they finally won 2:1, having an advantage in the second half and scoring two goals in the last part of the game.
First riddle of the Poznan's Championship solved
Wednesday, 10 August 2011 10:20
First riddle of Poznan's Eurohockey Championship II Women has been solved. As for Switzerland, which once more lost high in the second match of the group B. This time, despite the brave attitude, 2:5 with France. It remains fighting for a 5-8 place.
Someone could say, that Switzerland have some, but only symbolic chance for promotion to the quartet of the leaders. It could happened if they are going to win high in tomorrow's match with Russians. It can be inserted between cartoons. Because Russians, thanks to 4:3 win with regarded as a favorite Ukraine, are a step - read one point - from promotion to first four. "Sborna's" coach Oleg Potapow said in kuszoTV.pl studio enjoyed from a priceful win, gave to understand that he do not even imagine to ignore last match with Switzerland. Target of the Russia, which falled from continental elite, is not only promototion to one of three qualification tournaments, which is almost sure, but also come back to the best from the old continent.

Tuesday, 09 August 2011 15:34
8 August 2011, first day of the EuroHockey Nations Championship II didn't bring any surprises. In the first match of this event we had a draw. In the other games favorites won.
The closest to make a surprise was France. In the opening game of this tournament French team was leading with Russia - the team which was relegated from the European's group A two years ago - 1:0 since the second minute of this game.
That score maintained to the almost last minute. Just before the final whistle Russian team had a penalty corner and they scored an equalizer goal - 1:1. This result was just.
